At Sunshine, people aren’t defined by a diagnosis. They’re defined by what makes them human—and Margie is a perfect reminder of that.

The only daughter in a bustling house of brothers, Margie grew up in Perrysburg with a sharp sense of humor, a giving heart, and a serious love for sweet treats. After years of living with family, she moved into her own Sunshine home in 2014 and has called Olimphia North home since 2022.

For Margie, life is all about connection: dinner dates, reality TV marathons, and being surrounded by people who truly “get” her. Monthly hangouts with her good friend David are a highlight—burritos are usually on the menu. Uno games get competitive (in the best way), and Survivor and Wheel of Fortune are can’t-miss favorites.

In the kitchen, Margie’s go-to recipe is brownies made from scratch—always better when baked alongside someone. Around the house, she helps with simple chores and brings a lightness to any room with her quick smile and easy laugh.

A beach trip to Florida, floating in the ocean with her brother and extended family, remains one of her favorite memories. Ask what makes her happy, and she’ll tell you plainly: “Happy things.”

One phrase sums her up best: “I like me.” It’s said with a smile—and that’s what Sunshine nurtures every day: people being fully, joyfully themselves.
